The monotype is an intriguing hybrid among
printmaking techniques. It is neither a print nor a painting,
but a unique combination of both. The method is named because
it is one image—mono—painted or drawn with oil or
print ink, directly on to a plate of plexiglass then run
through a press on to paper. The monotype is a singular
image and cannot be replicated like a wood block, lithographic
stone, or etching plate.
The monotypes are reflective of my landscapes
with the focus being on light and color, mood and weather.
