My Story

Ever since childhood, I've been captivated by the colors and shapes found in nature. This lifelong fascination has guided my artistic journey through multiple creative careers.

My Professional Evolution

My journey blends art and design expertise that began after earning my Associate's Degree in Interior Design from Brigham Young University. I founded "Laura's Interior Design," which later evolved into "Boardman Design," where I specialized in both residential interiors and commercial design specifications. After years of managing employees and construction deadlines, I felt drawn back to my artistic roots and pursued formal education in Fine Arts. In 2004, I graduated with a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Utah and focused on gallery exhibitions.

Though gallery work fulfilled me artistically, I missed the human connection of collaborative projects. When the Salt Lake Art Center invited me to create commissioned exhibitions in 2013, I rediscovered the joy of working directly with clients to bring shared visions to life—a perfect synthesis of my design background and artistic training.

What Makes My Commission Work Unique

  • Design-Focused Approach: My background in interior design gives me a unique perspective on how artwork interacts with living spaces.

  • Landscape Inspiration: I'm naturally drawn to expansive views and open spaces, finding focal points that capture attention within the broader scene.

  • Collaborative Vision: Unlike creating work in isolation, I thrive on co-creating with clients—understanding your space, recognizing the impact of color choices, and designing artwork that serves as a perfect focal point for your environment.

My commission process combines technical artistic skill with a designer's understanding of how art functions within interior spaces, creating pieces that are both personally meaningful and perfectly suited to their surroundings.
